I think the first part of your post is normal. Plenty of people don't like to play the game of small talk. Most of them handle it differently, though... by just not engaging in small talk. So why do you feel like you should be a jerk about it?
The first part is actually not very accurate anymore, I wrote it 23 years ago and I have significantly immatured since then.
lol! Ok, that one was actually funny. The rest...not so much.
