The only reason you are afraid I feel is because he is your best friend, now I feel best friends can survive the worst of times, if not they aren't worthy to be your best friend. That being said, I feel you should let him know how you feel, chances are he feels the same way too, if he asks you do you feel uncomfortable that could be a sign he doesn't want you to feel uncomfortable around him. Maybe even if you try and either one or both of you don't enjoy it, it could be classed as experimentation and who else would have to know? I feel with him being your best friend, he will probably be asking himself the same questions and be thinking the same and maybe feeling the same, the only way is to ask him and discuss it between yourselves one day.
