I am a female and if someone came at me and tried to hit me, I would restrain them. I would exercise restraint, pun intended! hehe
This has happened, my ex girlfriend tried to strike me, I grabbed both of her wrists and held her in place. I didn't have to hit her and she didn't pose a threat to me. At worst, she would have given me a black eye. I could have seriously injured her if I struck her back as I am trained to react in a certain way.
If they came at me and actually posed a threat, male or female, they'd be on the ground in seconds.
Unfortunately, this has happened too. Some guy tried to force me onto the ground, so I put him on a car hood and strangled him until he posed no more threat. No I didn't kill him but I was damn close.
