Is it normal to hide my singing ability?

I love singing,I have all my life but I've a problem. I can sing perfect and in tune when I'm on my own, but the second someone is watching/listening , my voice just goes completely wrong. Like, people have over-heard me singing before and ranted that I should be auditioning for shows or different talent competitions, but when I tell them my problem they laugh and say "Ah sure it's just stage fright you'll get over it", but I can't! It's been years and I still have the same problem. Is this normal or is there something wrong with me? And if you have any advice tell me please?

  • Do it more, maybe you just need to get used to it.

  • I would just perform for someone like once a week, close friend or family. You will overcome it trust me. Sing in front of the mirror, post videos and sing in public or with someone.

  • completely normal.

i play guitar, and i didn't use to play anything right when someone started listening ;D

    these days it's better.
just sing in front of people more, to gain more confidence.

  • Maybe you should just start by singing in your room when you know other people can hear
