Is it normal to hear your thoughts talking to each other?

So, Sometimes I Hear my Thoughts Talking to each other.. And I Thought it was normal Intill I asked my mom, and She said that doesn't happen to her. And then I asked my sister And she agreed with my mother.
So, I'm Not really sure what to think.

Is It Normal?

  • Yea i get this.

It didnt start happening untill last year and i was scared i was going mad at first to be honest :S

Its not like hearing voices, its more like my thoughts split off and argue with each other when im thinking about a subject. Its not the normal to and fro conversations a person would create with their inner voice. Its more like my mind has split into two. Only happens when i think about it tho....

The brain is crackers really isnt it?

  • yeah it happens to me aswell i wouldnt say its not normal I think it only really happens to those who would rather debate each thought to themself to come out with the correct one

  • My thoughts sometimes do this. Also my thoughts tend to be a jumbled mishmosh of single word ideas, half formed sentences, and visual images. For example if I'm hungry I may get a visual image of a cup of Mac N' Cheese, and the word "Microwave" will sort of echo in my mind for a moment. Or in it's too dark in a room I may think "Open... open... open the... the... the... *image of a set of blinds*"

  • I have a pessimistic side and an optimistic one, and they argue a lot, the optimist usually telling the pessimist that it's being stupid. I think it's quite normal, but some people just don't think that way...

  • I do that quite often,if it requires great thought. I'll debate with my rational and logical sides. And a 3rd thought process where I'll say something to someone, because i'm not scared to.

  • It's not something I've ever experienced but I've heard this before. Apparently it's some kind of separation in the left and right hemispheres of your brain so that they can think independently and simultaneously. Most people experience this to some extent as déjà vu, where one hemisphere experiences something before the other, leading us to think we've seen it before.
