Is it normal to hear footsteps?

Is it normal that i hear footsteps coming up the stairs at night sometimes then they just stop near my bedroom door?Then i can never sleep the night i hear the footsteps cause there is a man standing across the room from me just looking at me with blank eyes.He is always there after those footsteps and then he wont leave until morning time and usually in the morning he just walks into my sisters closet to our Ouija board and disappears?? the thing is why does he have to walk up the stairs if he comes from our Ouija board?Does he just wounder around the house then come just to watch me sleep?
