Hearing a hum doesn't mean "danger" by itself. Personally, living in the US with 115 AC / 60 Hz electricity, I am somewhat use to hearing it, depending on what I'm using.
If it's always done this from the start, it may just be nothing more than the resonant frequency - as suggested by dappled.
I would not personally worry, unless it's something new. If it's something new to that equipment then something in side may have changed.
