Is it normal to have your eyes/brain play tricks on you?

Lol I was thinking of putting a post on here exactly the same, yesterday! I do it all the time! I'll see things like what I think is a dead fox in the road, then I look a second time and realise it's an old coat or a dustbin sack or something!
