Is it normal to have tons of friends in high school and college but

Not as many when you're 30+?

Let's say you had like 10 besties and about 50 others you hung out with in high school and late 20s you started hanging out with less. Like they're still your friend but you only see them once every other year. Now at 30+ you only have 3-4 friends in total but you still see each them month just that's it though

Is this normal?

Ten besties? I can't imagine having ten best friends. If someone has ten best friends do they even know what best friends means?

    Totally normal.

    Friends become quality over quantity.

You are lucky to still have that many.

I wish it wasn't normal! I miss having so many friends in my youth! :-P

I'm not as ancient as you but I guess people have more in common when they have the same daily routines, school, they see each other every day, and have more free time to see each other. I bet it was much easier

As most people here stated, it's normal. It's mostly because nobody has enough time due to work/family/other responsibilities and when you want to meet with more than 2 people at the same time, it's pretty hard to agree on the time.

I think, that quality matters over quantity, so as long as you have good loyal friends, you can be happy. :)

High schoolers don’t have as much responsibilities as adults do, therefore they have more freedom to make many friends and hangout a lot. It’s all fun until reality comes in and is like, “oh no, you look like you’re having fun. I don’t like that. Imma speed up time a bit.” Then BAM you’re an adult with lots of responsibilities, less freedom, less energy, less friends and more stress!
