Is it normal to have to use the bathroom soon after eating?

I have to hurry to the bathroom soon after eating most times. My stomach gets upset easilly and I would say I have diharrea 5 times a week on average. It's been going on for probably 10 years and I know it's bad to say but I'm very used to it by now. I was just wondering if anyone else has similar problems. It's not a geriatric problem because I'm only 23 and it's not my diet as it is very nutritional or my physical activity level seeing as I work out 5 times a week for an hour each day. I think it's just how I work but I don't know. I'm eager to see comments!

  • My friend has almost exactly the same problem as you. She has to stay away from certain foods and take like 2 pills a day

It's not really normal, but might me irritable bowel syndrome or IBS. I have never been diagnosed with IBS, but I have the same problem you have. I have a prescription for a med called lonox, (that's the brand name). I take it almost everyday, but u might be able to find you triggers and steer clear of them. For a lot of people red meat is a trigger, but you might start trying to narrow it down. Good luck!

I went through the eat-n-runs at about that age. It became quite a debilitating nussiance. Went on for a while and disappeared. Doc decided it was some anxiety issues.

Definitely NOT normal. My guess is a food allergy. Most common: milk, soy, gluten, nuts. Celiacs disease comes to mind (gluten allergy). Please see your doctor soon.

If the body is doing that you aren't getting the nuttional value of the food, not just avoiding calories but the vitamins too. It could be IBS but there are some other stomach gastroinstinal reasons for this to accure, such as you don't respond to fat or proteins because if a genetic issue. A problem in the intestinal tract could cause this but I know it is not normal. (I am studying to be a nurse so some thing might sounds hypochondriacy because of what I read, but it still should be looked at).
