There's truth in the old saying that living well is the best revenge.

Your father is the person he is, and there's not much you can do about that. The only thing you do have control over are your own actions in response to how he is.

Take whatever positive you can from your life with him, resolve that you'll be a better man than him in every way, focus on getting away from him as soon as you can, and then live a life much better than his.

Try not to fall into the trap of blaming your father for all your failings and failures. Lots of people survive terrible parents and rise above them. You can too.

Sure it's normal to WANT to do something like that, assuming he did something to supposedly deserve it.
I wouldn't recommend going through with it though. Better off gaining independence and cutting them off when you can.

I hate my father too. If he has abused you emotionally, physically or psychologically then go for it

Why?

If you think he would deserve it because of something he did that was fucked up is notmal... dont do it just because you feel its justified doenst mean its right.
But if he did something that an ulterior motive was planned or the result wasn't what he was going for. It's still isnt right to beat him up.
