  • In my opinion, there is a huge discrepancy between real feminism and what people use the word to describe. I shudder to label myself a feminist because of all of the negative images it congers, hairy arpitted women with daddy issues and riteous anger.

REAL feminism is about choices, not necessarily about rejecting traditional gender roles and guilt tripping men for behaving like men. For example, if I CHOOSE to behave in a traditionally feminine manner, want to cook and be a house marm, that doesn't make me any more or less of a feminist. I see exercising my will to be an act of feminism in and of itself.

I happen to find traditional gender roles to be sexy. As an opinionated, loudmouthed woman who swears like a drunken lumberjack and exudes masculine energy, I eternally love any man who can out man me. Nomnomnom all over sexy, stable, authoritative, masculine guys who make me feel feminine...so sexy!!

    • I think you need to understand that most people do not dislike feminism due to the reasons you assume they dislike it, most dislike it due to its beliefs and the actions of those that claim to be feminists.

      • Exactly my point! In essence, there is nothing wrong with the idea of feminism, the notion of equal rights. My point is the same as the OP's, I think- that the problem doesn't lie with the ideology itself, but what people DO with that ideology - they use it as a platform to justify all types of double standards. All I was saying us that there is a huge difference between the ideas behind feminism and how people translate those ideas.

    • Idk man almost every single feminist I seen looked like a whale or a dude. Feminism seems like a way for ugly woman to bitch and complain about society.

      • My best friend is a feminist and she's underweight and very feminine. I know what you mean though as a lot of feminists are lesbians.
