Op there are a couple of things this could be. Without more information its impossible to know could be drug induced psychosis if you do drugs any drug can cause it some are more likely than others but any drug recreational or even prescribed can cause it. However if you do not do drugs it is very likely either schizophrenia or the mania side of bipolar disorder. Either way I would say you are on the beginning stages of an up and coming bout of manic psychosis or the emergence of schizophrenia. There are some dead giveaways that mania is coming on watch for these and if you have friends who are extremely good friends(not friends of convienence but friends who genuinely care about your well being) tell them to look out for them as well. Also if you have a good family, you know if you do or dont, tell them. Number one sign keep track of how much you are sleeping. This not only is an effect of mania, but lack of sleep will push you deeper into psychosis. Number 2 changes in your carnal desires. This can manifest in different ways in different people it just depends on the person, but complete loss of apetite, voracious eating, hypersexuality, loss of sex drive anything that deviates from your normal interest in sex. These are the easiest things for you to notice yourself. There are more those close to you can notice. Delusions of grandeur is very very very common with mania. Basically this means that you begin to believe that you have an extremely grand purpose in life or are an incredibly important person. The most common delusions seem to be belief that you are being followed, persecuted, or monitered by some government organization. Religiously themed delusions are also very common regardless of your current religious beliefs examples, belief you are a messiah, God is directly talking to you, you are possessed by demons. Other symptoms are less prevalent but still very common. Reckless spending, poor planing. Increase in energy. Extreme over confidence-thinking you could be a professional athlete, thinking you are a super genius, thinking you are amazingly talented. I am a psychologist so trust me on this I deal with people in these states all of the time. It is important if you have the means that you see a mental health professional immediately. With family doctors and general practitioners it is hit or miss some are knowledgeable some arent in these matters. The reason it seems to be mania to me is the interconnectedness of these thoughts that you are having is very typical of mania. Delusional people do not have many different unrelated delusions. Typically the delusions are intricate, interwoven, and complicated. Watch for these signs if it is applicable let those around you know the signs. If it is possible see a psychiatrist or a psychologist. I havent read most of the comments on your poll but few people actually have the knowledge and understanding to make relavent compliments. If you are beginning a manic episode things will get worse more delusions, more complicated delusions, more persistent paranoia, and eventually the other symptoms will manifest. You can have a manic episode at any time in your life, but most people will experience their first from about 17 to the age of 25, I'm betting you are in this range if you are younger or older it is still very possible, don't rule this out just because you are not in this range. Let me know what happens I'll check to see if you have replied to this comment.
Sorry for replying late I had surgery so I couldn't really go on the computer.
I had depression w/ psychosis when I was 16 (I'm 20 now) and had to go to the hospital. I ended up stopping my pills after a couple months for a stupid reason. Another thing is my mom is schizophrenic.
before I had to get surgery though I had to spend a day waiting to go to work and I got really paranoid. I bought oatmeal and a drink at a coffee shop and I kept thinking there were bugs in it. I was outside and there was one guy outside with me and it looked like he was watching me. So I couldn't move or do anything until he left. After that I walked around and I saw another guy standing in front of a store and I thought he was following me. So I went to the bookstore and I saw a book with a bug on the cover in the fantasy section. It felt like it was meant for me and I read the intro and it scared me because it said this message was for me and he was watching me and his name was Gideon which I could have sworn I thought of that name before when I thought someone was watching me.
Anyways nothings happened since but I've had visitors over and I don't have problems when people are with me.
I have a question I have problems talking to people even my family/close friends. I don't talk much or they don't understand what I'm trying to say. I don't really know how to respond to people in a normal conversation I just don't say anything and people think I'm weird. lol.
Is it normal to have these fleeting thoughts?
