Is it normal to have the urge to rub ears?

I have always had the habit of rubbing my ears since childhood. My mom said that as a little girl, I used to rub the ears of every person I came across (family, friends and even teachers). I am 28 and I still have a tendency to rub my ears (unconsciously) and day dream in the process. When I see other people's ears, I feel like rubbing it as well (esp the cold ears).
