Is it normal to have sleep paralysis episodes continuously?

  • I kept having them for about a whole week every time I would wake up or fall asleep. Most of them were mild; I couldn't move. The one I remember the most was when I was falling asleep and all of a sudden I couldn't move or breathe and it felt like something was choking me. It just felt like an evil presence, nothing specific. I think I thought of an old lady once. I never saw anything but I felt like that's what was there. Bahaha why are old ladies so scary?

For me I think it happens when I'm really stressed out, especially if I fall asleep on my back.

    • Do you still have them? If you don't, is there something you do differently now than you did before?

      • I only had it a couple nights a few months ago. I didn't really do anything besides try not to fall asleep on my back. I heard it happens more often when you sleep on your back.

        • Yeah, I heard that, too. I tried to sleep on my side last night, but it was just awful. I kept switching sides (I was in a car accident, so the side I used to sleep on all the time is a little messed up still) and tossing and turning. I fell asleep on my back (go figure), and nothing happened. So it was just a random chain.
My partner had no idea wtf was going on, LOL.

          • lol. Yeah I've only ever gotten them in clusters. My boyfriend had a few after we watched The Fourth Kind. He's afraid of aliens and he thought they came to abduct him.

            • Lol, well, I dunno about aliens. If someone else is next to you, and awake, they know you weren't abducted, haha.

              • Unless they erased everyone's memory!

There was a line on his back or arm and he thought something had scratched him. XD

So what are your thoughts about sleep paralysis? Do you think it's just medical/scientific?
