Yeah you could, but then you'd be touching shit, and having to sneak from junkie to junkie quietly. It also won't make random cops vomit everywhere when they go inside.
The hammer sounds crude, but they won't even be able to get up before you stove their heads in. And then if one is unsually "springy" you won't be left defending yourself from an angry meth-head with a fucking needle, because you'll have a hammer!
