Is it normal to have people you talk to in your head?

I would like to know if it is normal to... how do I put it...have people you kind of...talk to in your head?! There I said it! I'm not acting like my usual self right now...I do it because I don't understand other people, they don't seem to fit my criteria of friend. So I created my own. Please do not judge me. If you read about my history you'll see why.

Is It Normal?

  • Of course it's normal - my voices never shut up! They say "kill, kill, kill..."

Seriously though, having an inner monologue is one of the most important things about being human - I very much doubt animals do. Early humans couldn't work out what the voice(s) were, either - so they called it God.

  • If by "people in your head" you mean "imaginary friends", then I completely understand. I have quite a few of my own. I even think of one of them as the twin sister I never had. I'm not sure if it's normal or not, but I believe that more teens and adults have imaginary friends then they're willing to admit.
