This can happen from careless breast feeding. Start your baby on one side, then switch him to the other side. When your baby finishes, put a pin on the strap of the side the baby finished on. This will remind you to start on this side for the next feeding. In this way, the baby who puts the heaviest demand on the first breast, is alternated.
I thought up this system for my wife, and encouraged her to relax by always mixing up a pitcher of fruit juice, and serving her a glass when she fed our youngest baby. I would kiss her on the forehead and compliment her on her alluring powers of feminine nurturing. At 11½ months, our baby had had enough. Man, did that kid ever thrive later on as a preschooler.
