Maybe subconcious you thought it was wrong to have crushes since you were under the age of 18. And now that you're 18 you feel that its okay at this age to start having crushes.

No, I don't think so. I think it's normal and expected for children to have crushes.
I had my first crush at 19, the age I am now.
