Is it normal to have large labia?

I'm really self conscious about my large labia, I don't like the look of them at all. They're a normal colour but I feel like I don't want to ever have sex because I'm scared the person I have sex with will make fun of me. Please be completely honest. Should I get surgery when I turn 18 or should I leave them to kinda hang and look unattractive, do most men like them, or hate them?

    You know I find it surprising how much people care about what sexual organs look like. I thought it was just bald or hairy. Maybe tight and loose. Yet no people are upset they have one that is too big or too small. If it is too pink. If its not shaped correctly. Which leaves me wondering am I strange for finding these kind inquiry irreverent?

    Thanks heaps! I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you as well :( some men out there are very disgusting. Mine aren't really massive but to me they are like I have seen others on the Internet and there's are bigger and apparently guys like the large ones better so that's really good I guess :3

    Thanks heaps :) I'm only 16 so yes I would wait for a while. I'm so scared, maybe I'm just not ready to do anything sexually yet :) I haven't even made out with a guy, but I bet so many girls haven't. I've dated so many guys! But they're all really after one thing :/ I was sexually assulted last year which is part of the reason why I don't want to do anything sexually. It's really scary because that memory always comes back :( thanks though! You make me feel more laid back about it xx

      Hey Pheobe, yeah I would definitely wait a bit coz u'r labia might be still developing. Its pretty shit about u'r assault - nobody deserves that, but I'm guessing thats knocked u'r confidence a lot so u'r probably more conscious about u'r lips than u need to be - dont forget, everyone is different down there. Kinda similarly I was abused when I was younger and it definitely made me want to cover up a lot coz I was ashamed. I think it was definitely a big factor in me turning bi but I built my confidence up a lot by being more extrovert and showing my body off more. I started by just being naked in my room then getting used to seeing myself alll the time then i started doing nudie runs to the bathroom. lol Fook knows why i started it like but i kinda figured my family seeing my body and not giving a fuck was a lot safer than guys seeing me and picking faults. The more I did it the more confident I got showing myself off so when I started getting with ppl I was a lot more comfortable being naked with them. I'm not saying u should do the same but it really helped me. As for surgery, only do it when u'r really sure you've developed fully and if u still cant learn to love them. The important thing is that they work and if u can get u'rself off thats the main thing. Also dont forget that there are still guys and girls who love girls with big lips so it wont be a barrier to finding someone who really loves u! Hope to talk again. Axxx

      Yeah its totally normal. I wouldn't say mine was huge but its prominant and more so when I'm aroused. I'm always paranoid about it when I go swimming, especially because my clit can be very noticeable but I've learned to love it after seeing that everyones is different. I've thought about surgery but was advised to wait until I was in my 20's and I'm so used to it I don't think I'd bother now. You dont say how old u are but I guess I'd advise the same to u - hang on for a few years and see if it changes in puberty before u go under the knife. Axxx

    large labia's are probably more "normal" than ones that tuck away nicely. No guy is going to laugh at you or your vagina shape (although if he does just laugh at his penis while giggling "it's so tiny!") and most men don't care.
