Is it normal to have intrsusive/unwanted thoughts?

So, for the past few weeks, I've been having episodes of intrusive and unwanted thoughts and fearing suicide/death and knives. I am not suicidal, but I am somewhat negative... I want to know..is it normal? or do I have OCD. It really bothers me how I link death with everything I do

  • It sounds like you may be a little depressed.
I had a similar experience a while ago where I constantly had unwanted thoughts and linked many things with death. I also felt lonely and depressed...

Maybe you should go outside and jog or do something with a friend...whatever hobbies you may have-
the positive energy will go to your head and you'll feel better!

  • I get this way sometimes. I've had a few scary moments of uncontrollable memories of a previous relationship. Nothing really bad happened, it's just someone I really don't want to remember. Back on topic! It's normal to have invading thoughts and memories.
I suggest to go out more with friends or family. Maybe vent to a close friend or relative for comfort. If you have no way to filter out the feelings and the thoughts, it's harder to get rid of them. Distract yourself with hobbies and/or positive things.
I hope you feel better soon. :)

  • I think once in a while, its normal, but could be OCD if you are obsessively thinking about it .....

  • You should go see your family doctor. There are many possible causes for this. The brain uses chemicals to trigger different responses, and your chemical balance is off. Again, many possible causes, including medication you might be taking. Suicidal thoughts are serious, see your doctor. It will not go away by itself.
