Is it normal to have inside jokes where only i'm in on it?

I want to wear an eye patch and tell people I lost an eye in an accident at work or some other back story. I doubt many people will ask to see under the eye patch and if they did I would just say I was really insecure about it. The only reason I want to do it is for my amusement and maybe 10 years or so down the line I'd reveal it was all a joke and laugh my ass off.
