Is it normal to have indents on your shoulders?

I have noticed that whenever I raise my arms and look at my shoulders, there are dents in the middle of the shoulder muscle. It’s about one inch long and it’s almost horizontal to the rest of my arm. When I lower my arms it goes away. It it normal to have those? If so what is it called/ caused by?

  • Based on your description it sounds like where the upper trapezius (traps) muscle meets your deltoid (delts) muscle. If you are thin/wiry or muscular/toned, the separation of, or gap between, these muscles may be more pronounced.
Google “images of shoulder muscles” and you’ll probably be able to see pics of the upper torso’s muscular system.

Everyone has that. The reason you can't see that in some people is cause they have a layer of fat covering it, or they're not that toned. If it starts getting more prominent, not just there but being able to see dents and lines in all your muscles, it means you're beginning to get ripped. I'd say, keep working out and keeping your body fat low, the more dents and lines, the better. Try to get that six pack on your abs.

You probably need to change your bra
    size and get more support

    • It’s on the “corners” of my shoulders. It’s not like a bra indent. It’s more like where the muscles meet.

It's a natural dent, but straps on a bra can make it worse if your breasts are larger than average.
