I have similar thoughts about my family and my crush. I say to my self "NO I DON'T!" But the thoughts keept co ming its driving me insane. I love my family and I would never want anything bad to happen to them.

  • Brains do freaky shit sometimes.

No one at IIN can diagnose you, but intrusive and repetitive thoughts can indicate POCD (purely obsessional OCD), as thr mentioned. It could also mean that you think these things out of anxiety; you fear them coming true, so you wear grooves in your mind thinking about it. It might even just be a passing thing that you'll spontaneously stop doing when you have other things on your mind.

Talk to your doctor about it. It doesn't mean you're crazy or that you truly want these things to happen, but if your brain has an OCD-type hiccup that's developed, good medical advice can help.

  • Its a forbidden thought that you are thinking, and it happens to all of us at some point, usually these things repeat themselves when we deal with a lot of stress. You should not be afraid of the thought, you are just realizing you dont want to lose the people you love. And you're afraid you'll hurt them. Rarely a person with these thoughts never act them out, because they have them and they're uncomfortable thoughts. just like uncomforable dreams. Its like the mind is warning you. but excessively.
This can also be temporary, so..dont go disorder yourself with this. my friend had it for a while, I've had it and at first I didnt even realize it. until my friend told me haha. But talk to a psychiatrist, so that you can understand it.

  • As long as you don't actually want bad things to happen to your loved ones, you're not a bad person. Talk to a psychiatrist or therapist about this. It could be a mental disorder of some kind.

  • I think it's more of a 'I shouldn't be thinking about that' thing. The more you try not to think about it, the more it comes into your mind. I don't think you need help, it's just an annoying fantasy. And this sentence: 'I love my family and I would never want anything bad to happen to them.' proves you would never do such a things in real life. Don't worry.

  • My dreams are sometimes good, sometimes bad, usually just really weird. The last dream I had was a blend of things, although part of it involved being chased around the house by my sister, who was trying to stab me because I'd made her that angry, and my mam was telling us both to shut up and let her go to sleep, haha. It then jumped straight to someone telling me puns and then telling me that I must watch the Sound of Music. Then straight back to getting chased by crazy sister who wants to stab me, and it ended up being very similar to that scene in the Shining, where I'm hiding behind a door and they're trying to hack the door off. Here's Johnny!

Um, anyway, dreams can be strange. I'd only worry about it if they were recurring, to be honest.

  • This sounds like classic love-hate. It's normal to deal anger toward people you love, but fantasizing about them being dead is a bit extreme, and should be explored. Maybe you're transferring the desire to see yourself dead onto them?
