Is it normal to have gone through bad times but love life so much?

I've had my fair share of bad experiences, not that they are "so much worse" than anyone else's or that I care about comparing them. It's not a contest with a winner, but I grew up in a slum with only my sister, my parents died when I was very young and I had to do some awful things to provide for my sister.

The thing is, I really REALLY love life, and living! I love people so much, I know there are bad ones but I think even they have some good in them. I believe everyone does, and I think it's one of the most magical and wonderful things ever.

Is it normal for someone to come from a kind of rough background and love so many things about people and life? Or am I just delusional and too much of an idealist that can't see reality?

Is It Normal?

  • I have had some very bad times too but I really love life and its complications. Maybe people like us are the most likely to be happy people because we know what BAD TIMES mean and we don't fuss over petty things. Yes there is good in everyone but in some people it is buried so deep that it is nearly impossible to dig it.

  • You came out on top of adversity in life. You won. Nothing wrong with winning. Celebrate it!

  • I think it's that you can see the good in life. Like you still have a roof over your head. Alternatively, I think it's possible that you cannot express anger very well. I don't think the quality you have is though, I bet a lot of people wish they could see the good in life.

  • I had to face some issues growing up..nothing too big, just many little things (a leaky faucet life, i suppose.haha.). Honestly, i am grateful for these experiences as they have given me much wisdom and depth to my personality. It's a great thing to be able to find the good within the bad and I believe that is where such a pure love of life comes from.

  • Of course it's good to be optimistic! Don't let the rest of the worlds negativity make you feel like you aren't normal :) you are truly a strong one!
