Is it normal to have dreams this disturbing?

Um, gore warning, I guess. I have frequent nightmares that tend to be very bloody, filled with death and rot. I'm a pacifist. A Buddhist. I've had these dreams since before I saw my first horror movie. In one, I was just wading through warm buddies, gutted and turned inside out. In another, I was in a taxi that drove over people who kept running into the road. It stopped feeling like road and more like we were trapped in ground meat. In another, a rotted man just followed me, his liquefied flesh dripping as he walked. I dream of things like this frequently. Just last night, I dreamt a bad man melted a woman's flesh off.

Is this normal? Any ideas?

Oh, also, one where I was a toddler where a woman with sharp teeth tried to convince me to kill my family, and one where a whole bunch of copies of me tore me apart.

I've never had a dream like that. Perhaps you should seek help? It sounds like these dreams may be causing you discomfort.

The closest I've had to a gory dream is one where there were all these eyeballs everywhere. It freaked me out so much I couldn't go back to sleep afterwards.

I almost never wake up scared, haha. Which is funny since I get scared really easily.

depends how your day/week is, if you ever had a rough few days then it can still spill over even today. also i notice when i get poor sleep i will get these. i would make sure your sleep schedule is normal and that you aren't trying to sleep when your cortisol levels are increasing which is what can happen in a body clock that is thrown off.

Maybe talk to a therapist about this ?? Maybe you have some sort of childhood trauma that causes this

I saw ghosts when I was really young, but that's about it. Psychologists don't really know what to make of it.
