Don't always believe what you hear. Whilst having poor hygiene could exacerbate the problem, it isn't the cause of the problem.

She said associated not "caused".
Why was that comment downgraded? There was nothing outrageous or blatantly malicious about it.

I assumed Avant-Garde said associated implying caused by, hence the recommendation afterwards of washing more. Either way, it's good to debunk a myth.
I don't know why it's been thumbed down, but sometimes people thumb down comments they don't agree with.
