It's normal (sadly) but also incorrect. There's only one reason why you feel the way you do about Muslims, and that's because you've been manipulated into it.
America knows that nothing unites a nation more than a common perceived enemy. America is also clever enough to not imbue that enemy with nationhood (as it'd be racist). It's just about okay to hate an ideology, though.
Today it's Islam. In your parents' and grandparents' day, it'd be Communism. For a brief period, it was "Old Europe". It's no coincidence that there is always one and just one perceived enemy, because the enemy is largely created on a whim.
The worry is how this policy will be viewed by history. A lot of innocent people have died. For now, though, I'd urge everyone to ignore about 99% of what is reported in the media and do your own research. Either that, or don't hold an opinion based on hearsay.
