Is it normal to have bad grades, but be intellectual?

I have one A, two Ds and Cs. I'm smart, but in a different and awkward way. I just can't deal with high school, assignment wise. Because I'm a truly hands on person, artistically talented also. I sit around and procrastinate, it is nearly impossible for me to get motivated and study. I just cant, but when I'm focusing on something that I genuinely am interested in or am passionate about, I excel. Which is the reason I have bad grades in most of my subjects, I don't like some of them all that much.

Is being like this normal?

  • You want the truth? You're lazy.

  • You should focus on what your good at. By the time you've gone ahead and made a great career doing what you love, the grades your getting now wont count for shit.

  • You get good grades by doing tedious and menial tasks that somehow judge your intelligence. You then get into college, and do more tedious and menial tasks to get a degree. You then use this degree in the real world to get jobs and such. And you find out that all those menial tasks you did in school do not at all relate to your job.

So suck it up until you get a job, then you can use that "intellectual" mind of yours.

  • Good grades are accomplished through repetition and memorization.

If there is a link between that and intelligence, it's a tenuous link at best.

  • It seems you're not quite intellectual enough to take care of responsibilities. There's always going to be something you aren't interested in but you need to learn to take care of your business
