Is it normal to have an imaginary boyfriend?

I have a boyfriend, but no! Not really, he's actually someone who doesn't even know that I exist! I tell somebody else these made up stories about a guy that I would like to have a relationship with, but this person believes that I am really in a relationship with this guy even though he doesn't really know me. I have fake phone calls with him, but I have to pretend that he doesn't want me to put the phone on speaker because well, you know....

Is It Normal?

  • It's not and it's pretty bad, but understandable. I hope you'll find someone real.

  • To be honest, I've never had a sexual inkling for men. I've been open to it for a while but my penis has never wanted this. Recently though I've been fantasizing about how comfortable it would be, the nonsexual part. Because women are more sensitive and I also feel they are more secretive I have an extreme amount of discomfort being comfortable around them. I never want to hurt their feelings or be judged. But with a guy I wouldn't have these worries. Because I still don't think I'll ever wanna have a sexual relationship with one maybe I will get an imaginary one too. Look out I might steal your man :P

  • Not normal. I suggest working on finding a real one before it's too late.

  • An imaginary boyfriend will never let you down.

When I was in my mid-twenties (way back in the early 1980s), a guy I knew casually asked if I and his sister-in-law were ever going to come around for dinner. This confused me, since I couldn't even recall ever meeting the woman. Turned out she'd been telling people that we were an item and had agreed to us having an evening with her sister and her husband a few times, but she always called it off at the last minute.

    Very weird.

    • Wouldn't it be better if she lived vicariously thru women in romance novels?

      • Maybe, I dunno. I wouldn't read that trash unless I was paid a hefty sum. To me it's just a waste of time.

        • Yes, but you can snap your fingers and have almost any attractive guy you want. She is probably a forgotten soul that no man would ever talk to.
