Is it normal to have an animal as an alter ego?

i have spend a fair amount of time over the last few years thinking up a sort of seciond persona for myself as an animal,sort of like the person i would like to be, with personality traits i would be too scared to exibit in real life.For example, A Bisexual-red wolf who is a pilot for fedex with a friendly social personality.

Am i insane or do other people do this?
