Is it normal to have an aggresive dad??

My dad is not a bad person. He loves his family but he has a short temper. He gets angry over the smallest things. He's always putting me down and saying that I'm not good at anything. I'm trying to get a job, but he says I'll just get fired since I'm useless. He always makes me look bad in front of the entire family. I don't know how to react to this. Is this normal?

Idiot. Don't do that. Keep your head up, get a job and prove his ass wrong. I work at jimmy john's and because of my slow nature before I got the job, my mom thought I wouldn't last. I've been there since September 2008.

it kinda worked on me, but I'm just like that... if you want me to do something just tell me I can't do it :P

pretty sure he thinks it's a good way to motivate you (maybe it worked on him when he was growing up for example).

Ignore it, or talk to him, stating this approach doesn't motivate me but the opposite (unless it does? :) )

Your dad and my dad should really hang out ... and let's see what happens! He's exactly like that! He puts me me down and really has a sharp tongue. He's ill tempered and does NOT believe in me. He says I'm a useless bloke, and will not ever get a job cause I'm stupid.

But don't let him pull you down! Just let the words enter your left ear and let it out on your other ear, and yeah, PROVE HIM WRONG. :)

  • Reminds me of someone.. Just keep strong and don't believe what he says. You don't need his negativity and bullshit.

Prove him wrong. Do your own thing. Find support from other family members
