Is it normal to have a rash from a cat scratch?

Is it normal to get a rash from a cat bite/scratch? I'm thinking of visiting the doc, but only if it isn't normal. It's never happened to me or anyone I know before.

She's an indoor cat (6 months old) who hasn't had any shots ever. Now I have a huge rash on my hand which is spreading to the other hand.

*Don't yell at me for her not having her shots. I have no control over what happens to the animals in this house, they don't belong to me. (explained here http://isitnormal.com/story/is-it-normal-to-dislike-cats-188538/ )

Is It Normal?

  • I'd be on my way to a doctor. Ever hear of cat scratch fever?

  • Ok so I went to the doctor and started on antibiotics. At first it worked, but now the rash is coming back again and I haven't even finished the antibiotics yet. Should I be worried? :S

  • Uh yeah. ^ that is a real disease caused by bacteria in the urea that's under a cats claws from clawing the litter box. It can kill you if left untreated. I'm sure you are having a histamine response to the alkaloids in the minimal traces cat pee that's in ur cats paws. Sensitive skin? Lol

  • CAT SCRATCH FEVER!!!!! I always put honey on my scratches due to honey's anti-bacterial properties and of I can, I'll wash it too.

  • The cat infected you with the deadly T virus. Antibiotics can be found at Umbrella Corp.

  • Since you have a huge rash you should definitely go to the doctor. You should also always disinfect cat bites and scratches as soon as you can.
