I've had similar issues. Even went thru a time when my period didn't start till I was a day or two into my new pill pack (some months i wouldn't get my period at all). My OB/GYN said it's pretty normal, but if it was bugging me to go off the pill till my next 'normal' period came then do a day one start to the new pack. I did what she said and thing have gotten back to normal.
If you're thinking about doing what i did you should check in with your doctor before stoping your pill (you will need to use condoms/whatnot if you're sexually active) cause there maybe something in your med history that will need to be taken into account.
