Is it normal to have a monotone voice?

So, recently i have been told that I am monotone and show no emotion in my speech happy, sad or excited etc. Apparently my voice is always a sort of deep "lifeless" (so ive been told) voice that just to me sounds quite normal. Does anyone know anything else about this?

Some people just do have a monotone voice.
I work with this one guy, he is cool and all but his facial expression nor voice tone ever changes.

The other day we had some kind of inspector come in and found something wrong. I made a joke about it, the inspector laughed and then I said, "Well, I guess Ryan didn't see the humor in it". He then says, "I have a stiff sense of humor".

Well NO SHIT Sherlock! is THAT why you are so serious all the time.

My brother used to take the piss out of me for that, so I started to purposely speaking with a lighthearted tone. Now I can't stop doing that. Literally even when people are talking to me about someone who's just died I'll reply back in a really cheerful tone.
