Is it normal to have a hardon when visiting my gf in jail?

My girlfriend is in jail and I visit her once a week. She is on the other side of glass and we have to talk through the phone. We don't talk about sex or anything like that but I have a raging hardon the whole time. It is very distracting.

Is It Normal?

  • Seeing her will probably bring up memories and us being humans and all, the first memories you will have and the strongest ones are that of physical contact. So in your subconscious you are imagining sex with her. Thus the hard-on.

  • Why is she in jail? I would dump someone like a steaming pile of shit he was a criminal.

    • Oh so everyone in jail is totally beyond the pale? How judgmental can you be - it could be for unpaid fines or just plain bad luck and anyway that's got nothing to do with OP's query

      • I'm just being real. If OP's so turned on over someone who might make a better ex than a girlfriend he could be priming himself to make some major life mistakes just for the sake of lust. I'm just trying to help a guy out. The best head to think with in situations like this is the one on one's shoulders.

There's no such thing as just plain bad luck. If someone does stupid criminal shit then he or she will end up behind bars. Even something as harmless sounding as unpaid fines shows a lack of good judgment.

Calling me judgemental feels like a compliment!
        :-P

        • No such thing as plainbad luck? How about if your employer goes broke and you can't get another job and you lose your home and end up homeless? Isn't that bad luck? Unpaid fines are often just the result of poverty rather than lack of good judgment.

You seem to be implying that anyone who does "stupid criminal shit" will end up behind bars? Well I reckon most of the criminals are making lots of money from behind their desks, or manufacturing dangerous and/or useless products or running the government. Rich criminals don't go to jail except in very rare circumstances, but poor people often do. A lawyer I once worked for had a poster in his wall to the effect that if you take a small sum of money from someone at the point of a gun you'll go to jail, but if you steal huge amounts with the stroke of a pen you'll be free to continue ripping people off: eg the Sub-Prime Mortgage outrage, to name just one example.

I just do not believe everyone who is in jail is necessarily a bad person: there are innocent people in there too you know, and what about all the "criminals" executed in the US and then found later to have been innocent?

Ending up in jail can result from all sorts of things which have nothing to do with criminality, sometimes even as simple as having a crappy lawyer or an important witness not turning up, or the judge is in a bad mood or doesn't like the look of you.

Quite apart from that, don't you believe some criminals can reform? We don't know why she's in jail so how can we assess whether or not she's worth waiting for? OP seems to think so and that's not what he asked about.

If you think judgmental is complimentary I suggest you check out the meaning n a dictionary.

          • Simmer down now. Damn. To be completely honest I don't care what you think of me or my ideas.

I've had the misfortune of knowing several people who where incarcerated, and not for the petty unfortunate things you've mentioned. These people weren't innocent either.

The truth is that neither you nor I know why OP's girl is in jail, much less whether guilty or innocent. I just want to encourage OP, anyone else out there to think with the head on their shoulders, and not the one between their legs.

    • Apparently you are not a believer in redemption or forgiveness. It must be a barren existence being so cold-hearted. I pity you.

      • I pity tha fool!

My second ex husband is a good example of why I don't care to associate those who have a criminal past. I don't see why my existence would be barren as there are plenty of people without criminal pasts. Of course forgiveness and redemption are things I can and do believe in, but for me forgiveness need not include reconciliation. I forgive my ex, but I'm very grateful that he's not in my life!

  • Totally normal but a bit sad as you're obviously missing her. How long til she gets out? That'll be a night to remember!
