Is it normal to have a fear of objects under water?

  • I have the same issues. The pool cleaners, the pool filter, the metal drain in a pool (not afraid of getting sucked down, but actually afraid of the metal grate), afraid of things like flooded cities in a lake and swimming over top of them, like if I touched them I would freak out, but am not the least bit bothered by fish or whatever in the water touching me, bouys that float in lakes and the chains they're attached to, in ground cisterns (don't even like looking in them), the underside of boats, their propellers, the intake systems on the bottom of a sea-doo or jet ski, even the water in the tank of a toilet. Basically man-made objects in water...very odd I know and I can't explain it. But a serious fear that I can only describe as creepy.
