I think she did it on purpose because there were no other customers in line since it was on a Sunday 3PM the store was almost empty, there was only cash register open and she was working that one. I had another bill to pay and I handed her the check and she read me back my credit card number and told me to enter it on the keypad and then verify my payment, she could have easily handed me back my check and told me to type the credit card number down without her getting involved. But she clearly wanted to read me the numbers and watch me follow her instructions. There was some sort of problem with the particular machine she was using, and she emphasized that the issue was not on my side but on the side of the store, and she promptly directed me to customer service, although I could tell she wanted to help me out but just couldn't.
