Is it normal to hate when people refer to me as "Sweetie" or "Dear"?

    This drives me crazy too. Usually if it's someone considerably older than me I don't mind too much but if someone near my age says it, especially my wife, it enrages me to no end. And I would agree it tends to just sound condescending.
