Is it normal to hate when people put their elbows on a table?
I just moved back to America from Italy and my parents and friends all put there elbows on the table and in Italy no one did. Do you this is weird or is it just me?

There are many contrasts you see from around the world. Living here in the states my whole life, I don't really notice elbows on the table. But when you're not used to it, of course it may be hard to get used to. Some folks here don't even like it. Depends on your view of things.
yeah i understand. because i was brought up in a strict italian family, i always got told off for things that were considered rude like putting your elbows on the table during a meal. its why i have no tolerance to people with no manners now. but i would rather to have been brought up with manners than with none at all...
I can see manners that have a recognizeable purpose but this is one I don't get!! However if I eat at a nicer restaurant or at a dinner with friends I tend to be concious of it just because I've heard it over and over....but never heard an explanation for "why"?? At home, I'm like 'screw it' be comfortable!!
