Is it normal to hate when people pronounce "mature" funny??

I pronounce "Mature" as "mah-chur" (roughly) but one someone says it as "mah-toor" with the hard "T"?? It drives me freaking crazy!!

Is this normal? Or are the other weird pronunciations that drive people absolute nuts?

    Everyone else pronounces it sher-bert but you. When someone says it WHY DO YOU FRICKIN NEED TO CORRECT THEM.

    Ugh yea I had a teacher that pronounced it "matoor" and it pissed me off everytime she said it. No one else felt that way though so I thought I was the only one

    Sooo annoying! I can't really think of any others right now. But how else are you supposed to say "herb"..I only hear it being pronounced "urb"..

      With the 'h' sound, so as it is spelled. It's not silent. I've not heard it pronounced 'urb' except in American TV shows. Never heard it here (Australia).

          I imagine some English accents would pronounce it that way, too. Personally, I couldn't care less. There's other words that piss me off more :)

      Oh God. You really tapped into one of mine. Urbs and spices! If you're French, you can get away with saying "urb". If you're not French, it sounds bloody crazy!

      To the OP: I agree with you too. The hard T is weird.
