Neds / Chavs are words to describe a specific group of people or subculture in Britain characterised by a fixation on 'sports' clothing as casual wear (Nike shoes, jogging bottoms, football tops, baseball caps), a love of magazines like Zoo and Nuts (specifically the male chavs) as well as tabloid newspapers such as The Sun and The Daily Mail, a lower than average IQ, an inclination towards joining or being in large, loud and often disorderly gangs and a love of tacky displays of wealth like ugly looking jewellery (bling).
Neds is typically only used in Scotland and Northern England, whilst Chavs is used across most of Britain.
