Is it normal to hate other people's misuse of grammar?

  • I'm not trolling and I never said that I was perfect. However, when someone goes to that extreme of incorrectly conjugating verbs or putting in a random apostrophe or comma, it's annoying as fuck. It literally hurts my eyes to read it.

    • Maybe people get irritated by the mistakes you have made aswell?

I think you mean figuratively. Your eyes can't literally hurt from seeing grammatical errors.

      • My mistakes are usually only noticeable to people who have put forth a great effort to studying grammar. If people get irritated by my mistakes, then maybe it is normal for me to get annoyed by other people's mistakes. I asked if this was normal because getting annoyed by my friends' incorrect conjugations and declination of nouns annoys me to no end. It really bothers me that they'll say something like "brung", especially when they say it to an authority figure.

        • Believe me, I have not put a great effort in to studying grammar. I self educated myself to this level of grammatical correctness, and in no way have I perfected it.

We all have things that make us tick, so I would say it's normal. It may be a bit ironic, though. Perhaps you simply mean the pronunciation of the words rather than the text of it?

Other than that, you are not the first to get irritated by such a thing, we have had many people make the same posts about incorrect grammar, etc.

I would say it's normal to get irritated by something that is not being said or done the correct way, but I wouldn't say it's common, if that makes sense.
