Eh, I don't really agree. The only thing I agree with you on is the internet is changing what we're interested in. Kids these days aren't as interested in going outside or reading because video games and the internet are a very large part of our culture. What we're interested in obviously waxes and wanes depending on culture and society and I really don't think it's that bad of a thing, but whatever.
What I find funny is how you assume people these days are "looking up to the wrong people". In the 50's, those who grew up in previous eras would have said that about those who looked up to Elvis. The fact people are looking up to the wrong people has nothing to do with today's culture losing it's morals. if anything, it has to do with the way society views morals. There will always be bad people existing in the world and people will always look up to people for the wrong reasons. It's just the way life is.
As far as the whole American culture cares only about money, since when did you decide that was new and mostly associated with our current generation? This is the way our culture runs. People know how to make something popular to gain a profit and many people look into these things because lots of people feel a need to conform, relate or belong to people and they dislike being shamed when they don't follow something. People will go along with what other people do, so it's only natural to exploit something and turn it into a product for profit so that other people will buy it out of pressure. People have been doing that for centuries. "Fads" aren't a new thing at all.
Is it normal to hate my generation?
