When you're a high school kid, you pretty much consume whatever culture they put in front of you. When you're in your early 20's, that's when you get cool, find the cutting edge stuff, and also learn a little more about earlier things. For me, at college I was listening to stuff that wouldn't become popular for another five years, and stuff that had been popular 20 years earlier.
The good news is that you're about to become cool. The bad news is you'll also become a bit of a hipster, and then twenty years after that you'll neither know nor care what's cool. There are worse things.
Is it normal to hate my generation?
