Is it normal to hate mainstream in general?

hey man. no man its not normal to dislike something that you discover is popular. you need to have a reason. this one cartoon i watched called people like that "cynical assholes."
I'm a hip hop head and some new stuff is cool. when i heard that travis porter song "make me sick" i was like "damn thats fire!" the beat is super creative, but i hate the whole song because the lyrics are straight up trash.
