Harry Potter was banned in my school and some Tennessee schools back then when I was growin up because its about witchcraft. I went and watched the movies years later when they came out and I thought it was ok.
You should find all the "magical" items that exist in the Old Testament. I've never been able to find a religious "holly roller" who could explain why those were acceptable and magical items outside of religion were not.
