However, everybody is cynical to some extent about certain things. For example, I'm cynical about advertising and marketing campaigns which seek to pull on the heart strings of consumers.
I'm cynical about manufactured pop bands, and the mainstream music industry in general.
I'm cynical about certain politicians, certain parties, certain governments etc.
Cynicism is often a response to a bad experience - confidence being broken or the realisation that what you thought was true was a lie. In this regard, being a cynic in certain situations is being rational; it's learning from history, and trying to avoid being a victim of naivety or gullibility.
When it becomes so much a part of someone's attitude that they can be described as an overall cynic, though, I understand that hate you feel. I expect they feel it too, in fact - being a cynic through-and-through makes life a pretty joyless existence, but some people just can't shake that negative attitude.
However, judging by what you're saying, OP, it sounds to me like what you actually hate isn't cynicism or cynics - it's people PRETENDING to be cynical because they think it's cool not to display positivity and passion about anything.
IIN to hate cynics?

Cynicism as a predisposition is lame.
