I dislike how uncomfortable it makes me feel. So, I tend to be quite rude and refute it. My psychologist always told me just to say thank you and move on. I find it difficult. I feel like I'm then obligated to respond with a compliment. That in itself isn't a problem, it's just that I then feel like whatever I say sounds forced and fake (even though I would mean it).
Is it normal to hate being complimented?
