Maybe you need to find other friends that more resemble you. Friends that have more of the same hobbies as you, more similar taste in music, more similar mind set bla bla.
I had many friends like you, that you say "I have to be the convo starter" they had other interest that didn't interest me, I had other friends that lived and breathed the same as me, you could not shut ether of us up.
